Update from The Forest Bridge Trust Acting CEO– Spring 2023
Kia Ora Koutou
Welcome to our bi-monthly newsletter where we alternate editions between giving you all our TFBT news and updates, with articles and stories about other great conservation activities across our rohe. With our focus on what’s happening around us this edition, I hope you will enjoy reading about what the students have been doing at Springboard, along with news from the Leigh Penguin Project, FOAM, the Whangateau Community Trapline volunteers, to name just a few articles Nikki and the team have gathered together. I shall shortly be stepping back into my role as Services Manager at TFBT and supporting Ana to lead TFBT forward.
We are delighted to have Ana join our team, and some of you may have met her at the SONZI conference in mid-August, as we “kidnapped” her ahead of her official start and sent her along with our team to attend the event. Thank you, Ana, for being so committed to our mahi and jumping on the bus!
It has been a very busy and productive couple of months! We are coming up to our 2-Day Hui, “Building A Legacy”, on September 8th and 9th, so do read on for more information and how to book your place for either one, or both days – just a few days left! There is no cost to attend, and we hope you will enjoy and learn from the guest speakers as well as some presentations from TFBT about what we do. Our Community Laision team have gathered together a great line up covering a wide range of conservation perspectives and projects – close to home and from farther afield.
Along with Ana’s appointment as our CEO, we have recently welcomed to Paula and Angela, who joined our team in new roles in July and August, making a full staff team at TFBT. Look out for their stories in our next newsletter.
One last thing from me, please do have a read of the Ministry for the Environment / Dept of Conservation consultation document: Helping nature and people thrive: Exploring a biodiversity credit system for Aotearoa New Zealand – Discussion document.

TFBT will be making a submission, and we encourage other groups and communities to have your say too. Submissions are open until 03rd November.
