Whangateau Community Trapline– a small group making a big difference

Whangateau Community Trapline with TFBT

The wonderful community at Whangateau earlier this year started working with our Community Liaison team to set up a coastal trapline. The Forest Bridge Trust was delighted to host a morning tea to celebrate all the hard work that has been done over the past 6 months and recognise the great results that have been achieved.

Hamish and Paula from the Predator Control team were on hand to give trap-setting demonstrations and allow people to become more familiar with using the trap-setting tools, while Charlie helped people to set up their Trap NZ APP so that catches could be recorded.

A big thanks to Karen and Elena who support and encourage this community trapline. and hub coordinator Richard whose What’s App group “War on Pests” keeps everyone updated, enthused, and entertained. It just goes to show what can be achieved when a community comes together to take action.

We appreciate the support that we have had from local landowners with this project, if you are interested in talking to someone about setting up predator control on your property or volunteering to help with the Whangateau Community trapline please do get in touch.
