Our Vision at The Forest Bridge Trust is to create connected people and landscapes with healthy forest and flourishing indigenous wildlife from the Kaipara Harbour to the Pacific Coast. Our area of interest extends from just above Wellsford and Te Arai in the north, to Waiwera and Kaukapakapa in the south – an area of 130,000 hectares encompassing both rural and residential Rodney.

We are a not-for-profit organisation. Since our establishment in 2015, we have grown to a current team of 25 permanent employees, plus additional contractors and volunteers who support our predator control, community engagement, education and riparian fencing and planting work. We are funded by a variety of government and philanthropic grants, alongside support from private donations and local business.

Tēnei tūranga / About the role

Based at our Omaha location, our new Predator Control Support team member will join us on a full time, fixed term (or Independent Contractor) basis, working Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm. Some of the main responsibilities include:

  • Placing and checking traps.
  • Collecting and reporting catch and surveillance data.
  • Maintenance /replacement of traps.
  • Supporting landowners and community groups.

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Understand and follow all Health and Safety and animal welfare requirements.
  • Maintain respectful relationships with landowners.
  • Uphold TFBT’s values of Respect, Empathy & Integrity,
  • Have a good level of physical fitness.
  • Have previous experience with predator control.
  • Have your own vehicle and a clean, full driver’s licence.
  • Be trained and experienced in ATV use (however, training can be provided).
  • Be a team player and have excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
